Open Studio and Gallery News!

Join us this Saturday! Every third Saturday of the month the 16 studio artists at Gallery on First welcome art lovers to their Open Studio event from 6-9pm. Enjoy complimentary refreshments and stroll the gallery halls to meet the artists and get a glimpse of their latest work. This event is located in charming Historic Downtown Sanford where brick lined streets are lit by string lights and house dozens of independently owned shops and restaurants. Featured artists revolve each month for this free event. Click Here for Facebook Event:

Don Moon - Featured Artist

Meet our featured artist this month at our Open Studio Night. Don’s work has incorporated a variety of techniques, styles and themes over the years. He has created work from folk art, expressionism, and abstract. Typically he works on three or more pieces at a time and prefers standing; constantly shifting his vantage point. Exploring the connections of emotional response to colors and techniques, Don finds himself painting or constructing works that have a social or environmental statement buried beneath the surface. There's New Light At Night

"There's New Light At Night!" John and Mark completed changing out the burned out lights that are in the alley between Gallery of First and the Willow Tree Restaurant.

It was like the sun was out at night when we turned them on. A huge difference. Now more people may take advantage to have their photos taken at night.

Gallery on First was excited to team up with the Sanford Historic Trust during their Tour of Gardens event on May 7th Local artists participated in the auction to benefit the Historic Trust!
